New Audio Engineering Site Has Launched

I launched a brand new site about audio and stuff which covers recording, mixing, mastering, etc... It's got all sorts of informative articles covering my perspective on things. There's also going to be more recording logs just like the Salome one that I put up there a little while back. Eventually I'm going to migrate all of my content over there. Here's the link to the main site. Audio Engineering Guide . I'm just a guy who has picked up a few things here and there, and if you're a fan of my music then you might find it interesting and informative. Cheers!

Recording Log Entry #1: Salome by The Lunatic

I've posted pictures and logs of a song I produced with The Lunatic which is called Salome. Check it out. Audio Logs. If you're a fan of the Lunatic then it should be pretty interesting. It basically outlines the process of tracking the song which began at one studio (some guys house) where we did the drums (played by Matt Humes). Then we went and moved to Matt Hume's Blue Boot Studio where we recorded the guitars, bass, and acoustic guitar. Finally we did the vocals over at Jack Mergist's home studio. I mixed the track at my studio (where I also added some more guitars and glockenspiel and shakers and tambourines). There's also a great article about albums I love from an engineering (and musical) standpoint. Check out 5 Albums Audio Engineers Should Appreciate. I go through each of them and why I think that's the case.

Yet another cover on the way!

Sir Martin Michalek of Den Lunatic fame has done a cover of another song from the first album called I'm So Embarrassed. Rather than rave about how awesome it is, I will let it speak for itself once it's posted. It's sort of a heavy industrial take on the song.

Another Cover! Jack Mergist (from The Lunatic) covers Earth's Yellow Sun

Jack Mergist (from the band The Lunatic), not to be outdone by Jack Allen (Poor Ghost) has done a brilliant rendition of a song from my very first album called Earth's Yellow Sun. Again, I really feel quite honored that such amazing musicians have covered my songs. It's such a dream come true to hear someone else's take on your own material. Download it for free over here.

Poor Ghost covers Grow Towards the Moon

A very beautiful rendition of Grow Towards the Moon (a song from my third album Wake Up) is available for free download here. I'm really quite a big fan of Poor Ghost's music and am quite honored that he did such a great rendition of one of my songs.

Wake Up Remaster

I went back and remastered Wake Up. I added a little bit of compression, did some EQ trickery, made the album's volume more cohesive and constant from song to song, and cut some resonant frequencies that were poking out of the mix and causing a mess. All in all I think I improved the master quite a bit. You can download the new master here.
I'll probably get around to doing The Audiotrap one of these days as well.
